Growing up in Gainesville, Fl, I excelled in math and science in school, and idolized my older brother who was a mechanical engineer. I followed in his footsteps by attending the University of Florida – Go Gators – and majoring in engineering.

While in my Introduction to Engineering class, I was able to listen to professionals and professors in engineering discuss the different disciplines available for study. Materials science sounded the most enticing, and from that day I knew this was the field I wished to pursue.

One of my lifelong passions is fishing: saltwater, freshwater, fly-fishing – basically anything that involves being on the water with a fishing rod in my hand. It is a place where I can go and relax and let all the stress of the day/week float away.

While at UF, I was introduced to the exciting world of paintball – tournament paintball, with professionals who get paid. It is an exciting, fast-paced game that requires you to think on-the-spot, improvising strategies and tactics to reach your goal.

I love experiencing new things and learning about new cultures and destinations. This past summer I was lucky enough to go with my girlfriend to Rome, Italy for a week meeting amazing people, dining on delicious food, and viewing spectacular scenery. Traveling is an essential part of what I want out of life.
